SEATTLE REALLY... TOOK THE 80S ROCK BAND OUT OF IT
They figured out a way to apply the liberal #metoo movement to rock of ages, and it watered down the show quite a lot, unfortunately. Having seen it done before, I can say it feels like it really misses the 80s period piece because of it. The singing wasnt as good as other productions of this play, either. This show needs world class singers with experience belting out rock ballads, not indie emo band singers.

VERY GOOD VOCALS, VERY BAD SOUND MIX
Something was missing and a took a bit to figure it out. While vocals were clear and generally high quality, the electric guitar and drums sounded like they were deep in a shoe box. It sucked the energy out of the sound and the room. Someone is deliberately going for this sound and hopefully changes. It was highly distracting and took away from some pretty good performances. Made it seem like Karaoke sound wise.

NOTHING COMPARES TO NYC HELLEN HAYES PREFORMANCE AND VENUE
There are some moments at the belk venue , :) but the stage and set are drastically
different from the original show, and the only two characters worth mentioning are the
German actors and perhaps Virginia. The rest of the cast is outright high school musical
quality and grade. Sorry but that’s how I feel. No energy, no comedic timing , no
chemistry amongst the cast, sound quality is also lack luster, it’s just a cheap water down
version of one of the best musicals around. GO SEE IT IN NYC . ITS WAY BETTER THAN
THIS MONEY GRAB.. i spent a great deal of money and the place was empty in my
opinion for a 8pm Saturday show. No worth it. Go to nyc, it’s a religious experience
there. In Charlotte at the belk, it’s just not nearly the same as far as talent and
presentation. I’m feeling very sad.

WORSE THAN I EXPECTED.
Rock of Ages made me laugh out loud several times - I’ll start there. However jokes like “I have a really big penis” reach down to the lowest level of humor. The plot is so cliche that I found it unbearable to watch. I get that the show doesn’t take itself seriously but it’s embarrassingly bad to watch how forced along every aspect of this show is, including the songs. This show is unique in a lot of ways. So is Bevis and Butthead. I don’t wish to spend time and money watching either.

MEDIOCRE
The movie is so much better . Really disappointed with the singing and music . I expected more from the Fox .

80S NOT SO MUCH
The show should have had a parent warning for children under 18. The drug and sex innuendos and scenes were unnecessary for the plot. I was told that it is a great show but the CLO did not do a great job. I would not recommend this to anybody unless it’s performed by a different group. At best it was a high school performance for the acting. Very disappointed and appalled by Rock of Ages.

MORE LIKE A HIGH SCHOOL PRODUCTION
The rock of ages show at the PAC was a disappointment. The lead actors had weak voices and the dancing was poor. The overall production was very ameuturish and felt like a high school show. The actors added a gay scene and had two strange German characters that seemed to be an attempt at hiding the lack of talent of the cast members. The best part was that are seats were close to the door and we were able to leave quickly.
