No Change in the Weather - A Newfoundland Musical

Why see No Change in the Weather - A Newfoundland Musical?

It's time to wake the truth.

The story of Newfoundland is told anew in this stunning new musical from Terra Bruce productions. Drawing on the folk music traditions of the region, a talented cast of some of Newfoundland and Labrador's finest actors, performers and musicians come together to present a once in a lifetime theatrical experience full of heart, history, and warmth.

What's the story?

Welcome to God's Back Pocket, where family and friends have gathered together on a wet and foggy evening for the wake of their beloved matriarch. It's a time to explore their past, settle old scores, and try to find a way home again.

Divided by the history of Newfoundland and the issues which have beset the province for the past fifty years, the time is ripe to right the wrongs, to laugh, argue, dance, sing, cry, and maybe even fix history. To look to the east and wait for the sun to shine through the clouds once more.

Cast

No Change in the Weather features some of NL's most talented musical theatre artists, including veterans Kelly-Ann Evans, Calvin Powell, Paul Rowe & Vicki Harnett, and rising stars like Marquita Walsh and Keelan Purchase.  The music has been arranged by Bob Hallett & Paul Kinsman, drawing on decades of experience with the Newfoundland & Labrador songbook. Musicians for the production include local Newfoundland stars like Sean Panting, Josh Ward and the living legend of traditional music, Kelly Russell.

Creative

Presented by Terra Bruce Productions.  The show's inception comes from its executive producer and Winnipeg philanthropist Walter Schroeder, who spent over 30 years travelling to and working with the east coast province.  "Newfoundland and Labrador folk music is both melodic and tells amazing stories", says Schroeder, "an idea arose to tell [NL's] true story in a musical."
