Marty Stuart and the Superlatives at the Sheldon in St. Louis

Outstanding musicianship, possibly the best band in country music (or anything else, for that matter) today. I'm only giving this a 4 star rating because of the brevity of the show. They didn't do an electric set at all, so you didn't get to see (speaking as a guitarist) their most "flashy" stuff. What you did see was tremendous acoustic work, and Marty shared the stage with the entire band having a say in the proceedings. I really would have liked to see their electric set. They do some outrageous thinks like "Hillbilly Rock" and "Country Boy Rock n Roll", in which both Kenny Vaughan and Stuart just fly across dueling fretboards. Maybe next time, but this was still a better performance than you'll see 99.9% of the time you're out and about. Just amazing musicians. ... Read more
